My family and I just returned from a 10 stay at Villa Happy Bay- This villa completely exceeded my expectations. It is absolutely beautiful. From the grounds outside to the amazing view of happy Bay, the Caribbean and Anguilla, it was breathtaking. The house is furnished and decorating with exquisite taste. The kitchen is stocked with every pot, glass, flatware, dish one could ever want. Blenders, coffee makers, grill, etc. You name it this villa has it. The beds and sheets were luxurious and by the end of the first few nights felt like my bed. Also safety was never a concern. The house is within a gated community and then the villa is walled in with a huge gate. Our housekeeper Beatrice was so nice and gave us many great recommendations for dining with the locals! Within 5 minutes drive is Grand Case where there are dozens of fine dining restaurants as well as shopping. Happy Bay Beach below is beautiful although the hike to and from is a bit challenging. I definitely would bring sneakers. Of course there were a few small negatives - on occasion there was a smell of sewer which we found out was from a neighbors. We told our housekeeper and the smell was gone. Also there are dogs next door which you do not want to run into. They were running on the road on several occasions. Thankfully we were driving and not walking. Also the drive up Mt Choisy is a bit sketchy. When you first turn in to the road there are several homes which are unpleasant to the eye, but once you get past that your are fine. There are herds of cows which frequent the road up and also the front of the villa, but they were friendly and never bothered us. Overall I would highly recommend this Villa. Near the Caribbean's gourmet paradise - Grand Case - sits the exclusive, very private enclave of Mont Choisy, home to the stylish Happy Bay Villa.
The home's elegant entrance, with lush tropical gardens and stunning native boulders, creates an inviting stage for this classic French Creole home dressed in soft yellows and trimmed with elegant dark wood details.
Entering the villa, the stunning panoramic views dazzle with a brilliant sweep of tropical green mountains and endless blue sea and sky. Anguilla is on the horizon. Just below the deck, you see waves crashing on the beach. Surrounding the villa are colorful gardens filled with tropical flowers as well as papaya and banana trees. The blue endless heated pool connects the amazing view to the villa. The spacious horseshoe shaped epi wood terrace is filled with outdoor dining and seating to enjoy the view and wonderful breezes. Little seating niches and a large covered gazebo offer quiet places to relax.
The interior great room, with spaces for seating and dining, is fully air condition or opens fully to the tropical breeze. Floor to ceiling glass doors brings in the view. Travertine floors run throughout the interiors. The recently renovated décor has an open and airy attitude in a mix of contemporary and exotic furnishings and accessories in teak woods and soft taupe and cream colors. The modern fully equipped kitchen, open to the view, is tastefully designed in glass tiles, stainless appliances, and grey with pops of color. A fully equipped gym with a bathroom is located on the lower garden level.
The four bedrooms, with en-suite bathrooms, are off the main salon and under one roof. Each has interior and exterior doors for access to the pool, a small office/workspace, and fabulous sea views. Three bedrooms are accessible off a large media room with a flat-screen TV, perfect for teenagers are kids to share this wing of the villa. The master bedroom, located on the opposite side of the villa, is its own private oasis. Private for some but still connected given all bedrooms are under the same roof and all accessible from the inside. Each bathroom is uniquely designed in interesting mixes of materials and stylish fixtures plus they are fully air-conditioned.
Although secluded, Frair's Bay and Happy Bay beaches are steps away. A 3-minute drive takes you to the charming town of Grand Case filled with fabulous restaurants plus the Hope Estate area with a terrific French grocery store and Bacchus, one of the island's best restaurants and wine merchants.
